Hyderabad Hit-and-Run: Former Army Subedar Killed, Two Injured

A 47-year-old former Army Subedar was killed and two others were injured after a car allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road crashed into three two-wheelers in the early hours of Monday in Hyderabad’s Hyderashakote area. The occupants of the car reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene before police arrived.

The accident occurred around 5.30 am, when the car allegedly entered the wrong side of the road and collided with motorcycles travelling along the route. The impact left three riders injured, with former serviceman Ravinder sustaining fatal injuries. Police said Ravinder, who had retired from the Army after serving as a Subedar, died at the spot. He was reportedly riding his two-wheeler when the car struck him. Two other people injured in the crash were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, though their current condition has not yet been disclosed.

The people inside the car fled shortly after the collision, leaving the badly damaged vehicle behind. Police have since seized the car and begun checking its registration and ownership details. Investigators are working to establish who was driving the vehicle and identify the other occupants who allegedly escaped after the accident.

As the case is being treated as a hit-and-run, police are reviewing CCTV footage from roads and surrounding areas to reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators are trying to establish the car’s movements before the crash, the route taken by the occupants after abandoning the vehicle and the number of people travelling in it. Police are also examining whether speeding or reckless driving contributed to the accident.

A case has been registered at the Narsingi Police Station, and a detailed investigation is underway. Police are probing why the vehicle was travelling against the flow of traffic and whether driver negligence led to the fatal collision. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over wrong-side driving and road safety in Hyderabad and its outskirts, particularly during the early morning hours when motorists may have less time to react to vehicles approaching from the opposite direction.
