Hyderabad’s Hydra Protects ₹1,003 Crore Worth of Government Land
Hyderabad’s government lands faced a serious threat from encroachers, but Hydra stepped in decisively, safeguarding properties worth over ₹1,003 crore during a major operation on Wednesday in Jubilee Hills and Khanamet . Acting under the direction of Commissioner A.V. Ranganath , teams demolished illegal constructions, fenced vulnerable areas, and reinforced security to prevent further land grabs.
In Jubilee Hills , a 2-acre park near Apollo Hospital Outgate had been illegally occupied by individuals attempting to claim ₹3 crore worth of land. Encroachers had built multi-storey structures with several bedrooms and converted parts of the park into private space. Following complaints from residents, Hydra, along with GHMC officials, swiftly demolished the constructions , installed protective fencing, and registered police cases , returning the park to the community.
Similarly, in Khanamet , authorities secured 5 acres of high-value government land near the Hitex Exhibition Center . This land, previously allocated to the All India Velama Sangham , was under a court stay due to disputes. Some locals tried to take advantage of the situation by dumping soil and encroaching from the rear, even attacking a watchman. Hydra acted quickly, installing fencing and security boards , ensuring the land remains protected until the court delivers its verdict.
With these operations, Hydra has sent a clear warning to land grabbers across the city: illegal attempts to occupy government property will be met with swift and decisive action . The combined efforts have preserved nearly ₹1,003 crore worth of public land , reinforcing the commitment to protecting Hyderabad’s government assets.
