In a bid to prevent fire accidents in the city, HYDRA has launched extensive fire safety awareness programmes across Hyderabad. The initiative follows a series of recent fire incidents, including a major blaze at a furniture showroom in Nampally , which underscored the urgent need for public awareness and strict enforcement of fire safety norms.

During inspections carried out by HYDRA, several establishments were found violating fire safety regulations. While granting a one-month grace period for mandatory compliance, the authority has warned that strict action will be taken against defaulters. Alongside enforcement, HYDRA has intensified awareness campaigns to educate the public on preventive measures, emergency response, and ways to safeguard lives and property during fire accidents.

As part of the programme, officials conducted live demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers, the functioning of automatic water sprinklers, and the importance of smoke detectors. The awareness drives were held in multiple localities, including Panjagutta, Narsingi, Mettuguda, Karwan, Shapur Nagar, AS Rao Nagar, Chandanagar, RTC Cross Roads, Uppal, Begumpet, Chandrayangutta, Santosh Nagar, Jubilee Hills Road No. 45, Lakdikapool, Madhapur, Sanathnagar, Gachibowli, Miyapur, Dilsukhnagar, Alwal, Badangpet, Attapur, Banjara Hills, ECIL, Kompally, Nampally, Shamshabad, Pedda Amberpet, Bachupally, and Toomkunta .

Shop owners and managers of commercial complexes were advised to clearly display fire exit routes and immediately report emergencies to the Fire Department (101) , HYDRA Control Room (1070) , or 9000113667 . In several areas, fire mock drills were conducted to practically demonstrate safe evacuation procedures for workers and traders during emergencies.
