Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has distanced himself from the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, reiterating that he is an artist and has no role in politics. Responding to questions during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday about whether he would join the agitation over alleged examination irregularities and the NEET paper leak controversy , Dosanjh made it clear that he would stay away from political movements.

"Keep me away from all this... Bro, I'm an artist. I'm no politician, I don't know what you think I am," he said. He also quoted a verse from the Guru Granth Sahib , "Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhiya jis naam aadhaara," saying that everyone in the world faces sorrow and only those who rely on God find peace. He added that nothing in the world can ever be completely right, before remarking, "Those who are protesting, congratulations to them, and for whom the protest is happening, congratulations to them also, as I don't know anything."

The CJP, which began as a digital satirical outfit, has been holding protests at Jantar Mantar since June 20, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak controversy. Founder Abhijeet Dipke has said the agitation will expand beyond education issues to include broader accountability concerns, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In recent days, the protest has also drawn support from Sonam Wangchuk , while Dipke has levelled allegations of surveillance of protesters' phones during the demonstration.

Dosanjh's remarks mark a contrast with his public support for the farmers' protest in 2020 against the farm laws, which were later repealed by the Centre. In May this year, after a civil society group appealed to him to enter politics, the actor ruled out any political ambitions, posting on X that his job is to entertain people and that he is happy in his profession.
