India on Monday strongly condemned Pakistan's air strikes on Afghan territory , describing them as a "blatant act of aggression" that undermines Afghanistan's sovereignty and poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the strikes, which reportedly resulted in civilian casualties, reflected Pakistan's "persistent pattern of reckless behaviour" and its attempts to externalise internal failures through desperate acts of violence beyond its borders .

"India strongly condemns Pakistan's air-strikes on Afghan territory that have resulted in several civilian casualties, including women and children. This blatant act of aggression by Pakistan is an assault on Afghanistan's sovereignty and a direct threat to regional peace and stability," the MEA said.

The condemnation came after Pakistan said its security forces had killed 29 militants in a ground operation near the Afghan border and in subsequent cross-border strikes. Islamabad also confirmed that it had summoned Afghanistan's charge d'affaires to protest what it described as escalating tensions, while Kabul reciprocated by summoning Pakistan's envoy.

However, the Afghan foreign ministry alleged that Pakistani air strikes on residential areas killed 36 civilians , including women and children, and injured 163 others . Kabul described the attacks as a violation of international law, humanitarian principles, and Afghanistan's sovereignty . Pakistan had not immediately responded to the allegations of civilian casualties.

Expressing solidarity with Afghanistan, India conveyed its condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. The MEA also reiterated India's "unwavering support" for Afghanistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity , underscoring New Delhi's concern over the escalating cross-border hostilities and their potential impact on regional stability.
