The BJP on Sunday claimed that growing differences among members of the opposition INDIA bloc were pushing the alliance towards disintegration, with party leaders asserting that unity among opposition parties would become increasingly difficult in the coming months.

Telangana BJP spokesperson Prakash Reddy said recent developments within the opposition camp reflected deepening political fault lines and questioned the long-term viability of the coalition. According to him, the decision of a key alliance partner, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) , to stay away from a crucial INDIA bloc meeting scheduled in New Delhi highlighted the extent of internal disagreements.

Reddy alleged that political realignments in Tamil Nadu following the recent Assembly elections had strained relations between the DMK and the Congress. He claimed that despite contesting the elections together as part of the DMK-led alliance, the Congress later chose to extend support to another regional political force, a move that reportedly caused resentment within the DMK.

The BJP leader argued that the episode exposed what he described as opportunistic politics within the opposition camp and signalled weakening trust among alliance partners. He suggested that the absence of a major constituent from an important coordination meeting reflected broader challenges facing the coalition.

Echoing similar criticism, Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi alleged that opposition parties were struggling with internal conflicts and a lack of coordination. He maintained that the INDIA bloc was facing growing confusion over leadership and strategy, while asserting that the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) remained united.

Political attention has focused on the DMK’s reported decision to skip the meeting even as several other opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress (TMC) , are expected to participate. The development has fuelled speculation about tensions within the alliance at a time when opposition parties are attempting to strengthen coordination on national political issues.

According to statements attributed to the DMK, dissatisfaction has emerged over Congress’ post-election political stance in Tamil Nadu. Party leaders reportedly conveyed that the move had disappointed cadres and affected confidence within the alliance framework. The DMK is understood to have conveyed that it was unwilling to participate in a meeting involving Congress under the present circumstances.

The BJP has seized on the developments to argue that the opposition alliance faces significant internal challenges, while opposition leaders continue to maintain that cooperation among member parties remains intact despite occasional disagreements.
