India Charts Roadmap to Achieve USD 150 Billion Electronics Exports by 2030
The Department of Commerce has unveiled a strategy to strengthen India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem and boost global competitiveness, targeting USD 150 billion in electronics exports by 2030 . The roadmap was discussed during a Chintan Shivir at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with participation from senior government officials, industry leaders and export promotion councils.
The ambitious target builds on India's rapid progress in the sector. Electronics exports reached a record USD 47.69 billion in FY2025-26 , rising nearly 11-fold from around USD 5.4 billion in 2015 , making electronics one of the country's fastest-growing export categories.
Organised in collaboration with the Mobile and Electronic Devices Export Promotion Council (MEDEPC), the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) and the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), the event focused on policy reforms to accelerate export-led growth and deepen India's role in global electronics manufacturing.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said the global electronics industry is increasingly driven by global value chains (GVCs) , making a stable and predictable policy framework essential for attracting investment and expanding export-oriented manufacturing. He stressed that policies for domestic production may differ from those needed to support exports.
Presentations highlighted opportunities in smartphones, servers, specialty electronics, semiconductors and electronic components , while emphasising supply chain resilience and targeted policy interventions. Industry stakeholders also called for greater integration of MSMEs into global value chains , harmonisation of HS Codes , and closer coordination with Customs authorities to reduce product misclassification and facilitate smoother exports.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to translate the recommendations into actionable policies that strengthen India's manufacturing ecosystem, improve export competitiveness and position the country as a global electronics manufacturing and export hub .
