India, Georgia Deepen Trade Push as Envoy Kwatra Meets Governor Kemp

India's Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra met Georgia Governor Brian Kemp in Atlanta to strengthen the growing India–Georgia trade and investment partnership, while also engaging with industry leaders, universities and the Indian diaspora as part of a broader effort to deepen economic and strategic ties between India and the US.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media, Kwatra said discussions with Governor Kemp focused on expanding bilateral trade, increasing investment, improving connectivity and creating new opportunities in business, innovation and education. He also congratulated Kemp on his leadership and expressed confidence that Georgia would continue playing an important role in advancing the India-US strategic partnership.

During the visit, the ambassador met Carol Tome, Chief Executive Officer of United Parcel Service (UPS), where both sides discussed resilient supply chains, logistics connectivity and UPS's expanding investments and operations in India. Kwatra highlighted India's rapidly growing economy and its potential in manufacturing, technology, innovation and global business partnerships as companies diversify supply chains.

At the India-US Education Roundtable hosted by the Consulate General of India in Atlanta, Kwatra held discussions with academic leaders on research partnerships, student exchanges, technology collaboration and the opening of satellite campuses by US universities in India. He described education as one of the strongest pillars of the bilateral relationship and a driver of future innovation.

Georgia has emerged as an increasingly important partner for India, with Indian companies maintaining a significant presence across sectors including information technology, manufacturing, logistics and healthcare, while thousands of Indian students study in the state each year. The southeastern US state also hosts a vibrant Indian American community that continues to strengthen commercial and people-to-people ties.

Concluding his Atlanta visit, Kwatra met members of the Indian diaspora, praising their contributions across the Southeast. He said their achievements continue to reinforce the expanding India-US partnership and create new opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, education and innovation.
