India Gets 14 New Indigenous Quantum Products as C-DOT Boosts Cybersecurity

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the telecom research and development arm of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has unveiled 14 indigenous quantum products aimed at strengthening the security of India’s communication networks in the emerging quantum era.

The products were launched during C-DOT’s 43rd Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi. The portfolio covers technologies based on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), designed to protect communication systems against cybersecurity threats posed by future quantum computers.

Among the products unveiled are Q-AKSHAY CD and Q-AKSHAY MD, fibre-based QKD systems designed for secure quantum key generation and distribution. Q-AKSHAY MD uses the Measurement Device Independent protocol to address vulnerabilities associated with measurement devices.

C-DOT has also introduced critical quantum communication components, including C-SPD, a single-photon detector, and C-RD, a wideband RF driver for intensity and phase modulators.

The portfolio includes several quantum-safe encryptors for different applications. Q-MAHASETU supports Layer 2/3 networks with throughput of up to 40 Gbps, while Q-AMOGH offers optical encryption at speeds of up to 200 Gbps. Defence-focused solutions include Q-VIKRAM and Q-PARAKRAM, each offering up to 1 Gbps throughput.

Other products, including Q-DARSHAN, Q-VACHAN, Q-RAQSHAK, Q-VAAYU and Q-VAJRA1000, are designed to secure IP communications, enterprise networks, wireless links and existing communication infrastructure.

According to C-DOT, the Quantum Product Series combines QKD and PQC-based technologies to enable secure communications across telecom, enterprise, optical, wireless, strategic and defence applications.

The initiative reflects C-DOT’s focus on converting indigenous research into deployable technologies and building future-ready and resilient communication infrastructure. A booklet detailing the newly unveiled quantum solutions was also launched during the event.
