India hosts Afghanistan: One-off test followed by three ODIs
Afghanistan will begin their tour of India with a one-off Test match in New Chandigarh from June 6 to June 10, 2026 , followed by a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, the BCCI announced on Monday.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the Test match will not be part of India’s World Test Championship cycle , reflecting the board’s current focus on limited-overs cricket ahead of the 2027 ICC World Cup . “Afghanistan will play one Test match followed by a three-match ODI series,” Saikia said.
The ODI series will commence in Dharamshala on June 14 , with the second match in Lucknow on June 17 and the third in Chennai on June 20 . All matches are scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM IST .
The tour gives Afghanistan an opportunity to test themselves in Indian conditions, while India prepares to fine-tune its limited-overs lineup and strategies ahead of key international tournaments.
