India Launches First Space Sector Capability Catalogue At India Space Congress

India launched its first Indian Space Industry E Catalogue at India Space Congress 2026 in New Delhi creating a digital capability mapping platform for the rapidly expanding space sector under a unified ecosystem framework.

It brings together over 200 verified companies across 20 domains and 120 sub domains covering the full space value chain and enabling procurement collaboration and ecosystem discovery across the space and defence ecosystem .

Developed by Satcom Industry Association India a non profit industry body the platform is industry led but aligned with national space policy and supports integration between startups MSMEs and large firms.

Two strategic reports released include one on on orbit servicing assembly and refuelling ecosystem developed with OrbitAID and another on space based computing infrastructure and orbital data centres highlighting AI sovereign computing capabilities.

The catalogue spans nearly twenty major domains including launch systems satellite manufacturing satellite communications earth observation navigation systems space applications data analytics ground segment infrastructure propulsion systems robotics on orbit services avionics electronics testing simulation software artificial intelligence defence space technologies debris management and emerging orbital computing services

These domains represent the full value chain from rocket design and satellite building to downstream applications in security climate monitoring and digital infrastructure

Industry participants noted that the catalogue is not just a directory but a strategic procurement and collaboration platform linking startups government agencies and global partners within the space ecosystem

While no immediate funding deals were announced it is expected to support future contracts international partnerships and defence space integration efforts
