India, US Explore Modi-Trump Meeting on G7 Summit Sidelines

India and the United States are holding discussions on the possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the upcoming G7 Summit in France , according to people familiar with the matter.

While no final decision has been made, officials from both sides are exploring the feasibility of a brief interaction during the summit, which will be held in Evian from June 15 to 17 . Sources said the meeting would depend on several factors, including the schedules of the two leaders and other logistical considerations.

The potential engagement comes at a significant juncture in India-US relations , as both countries seek to rebuild momentum in bilateral ties following recent strains. Relations had come under pressure after Washington imposed punitive tariffs on Indian goods and President Trump made controversial claims about his role in de-escalating the India-Pakistan military confrontation in May.

Diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties have gathered pace in recent weeks.
