The Indian Army on Saturday repatriated a resident of Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) who had inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector earlier this year.
According to the Army's Chinar Corps , Zeeshan Mir , son of Lal Mir , was apprehended on May 31, 2026 , after accidentally crossing the LoC in the Uri sector of Baramulla district . Following established procedures, he remained in Indian custody until arrangements for his safe return were completed.
The Army said Mir was formally handed over to Pakistan Army officials at the Kaman Aman Setu crossing point on July 4, 2026 , at 12:24 pm (IST) . The repatriation was carried out through the designated border crossing in accordance with standard humanitarian and cross-border protocols.
In a post on X, the Chinar Corps said that throughout his stay in India, Mir was treated with dignity, compassion, and due care , reflecting the Indian Army's commitment to humanitarian values and professional conduct .
Incidents of inadvertent crossings along the LoC occasionally occur due to difficult terrain, weather conditions, or navigational errors. Such cases are typically addressed through established military communication channels and humanitarian procedures, with individuals being repatriated after verification and coordination between the two sides.
