
Indian Compound Archers Hit the Mark, Sahil and Jyothi Enter Top 10 in Turkey
India's compound archery contingent made a confident start to the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Turkey on Tuesday, with rising star Sahil Jadhav and seasoned campaigner Jyothi Surekha Vennam securing top-10 finishes in the qualification rounds and strengthening the country's prospects ahead of the knockout stages.
Fresh from claiming the first World Cup medal of his career with a bronze in Shanghai last month, Sahil continued his impressive form on the international stage. The young Indian archer scored 710 points in the men's compound qualification round to finish 10th overall in a tightly contested field.
The competition proved exceptionally close, with seven archers ending on the same score of 710. Sahil eventually slipped to 10th place due to the X-count tie breaker. Austria's Nico Wiener topped the qualification standings with 714 points.
Among the other Indians, Rishabh Yadav finished 22nd with 706 points, while Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru and Kushal Dalal placed 33rd and 43rd respectively. Despite Rishabh's higher qualification ranking, he will not feature in the team competition as India has chosen to field the archers selected for the upcoming Asian Games .
The Indian men's compound team, comprising Sahil, Ganesh and Kushal, earned the third seed and will begin its campaign against Singapore.
In the women's compound section, Jyothi Surekha Vennam once again underlined her consistency by finishing seventh with a score of 700. Chikitha Taniparthi followed closely in 10th place, while Parneet Kaur secured 18th position with 693 points.
Seventeen year old Prithika Pradeep finished 22nd among the Indian archers with 690 points. However, as part of India's Asian Games squad, she will join Jyothi and Chikitha in the women's team event.
The Indian women's team secured the second seed , trailing only Mexico, and advanced directly to the quarterfinals. They will face the winner of the contest between Italy and the United States.
India also earned the fifth seed in the compound mixed team event , with Sahil pairing up with Jyothi. The duo received a first round bye and progressed straight to the pre quarterfinals.
With experienced names delivering and emerging talents continuing to impress, India heads into the elimination rounds carrying significant momentum and growing confidence in its quest for medals in Antalya.
