The Indian Consulate in Shanghai, China, has launched a month-long special campaign to prioritise the timely resolution of consular issues faced by the Indian diaspora in its jurisdiction. The initiative aims to improve public service delivery, reduce bureaucratic delays and make consular assistance more accessible to Indian citizens living in the country.

The Consulate General of India (CGI), Shanghai, is implementing Special Campaign 6.0 alongside the #SwachtaHiSeva 2026 campaign, according to a post shared on X on Sunday.

As part of the outreach initiative, Consul General Pratik Mathur led a large-scale consular services Seva Shivir in Shaoxing county of the Keqiao district in Zhejiang province. The camp was organised to address the consular requirements of Indians living in the region and facilitate the timely resolution of their issues.

During the programme, Mathur highlighted the significance of Keqiao, popularly known as 'Little India' on mainland China, which is home to a sizeable and active Indian community. The community includes students, traders and businesspeople engaged in various activities.

The Consul General also appreciated the Indian community's active outreach and contributions to social welfare initiatives, including organising large-scale blood donation campaigns.

The Indian community in Keqiao brings together people from different parts of the country, reflecting the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the consulate said. Mathur also extended his wishes to the community on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, observed on October 31 to mark the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The month-long campaign reflects the Indian Consulate's efforts to strengthen engagement with Indians living in China while ensuring their consular concerns receive timely attention.
