India's growing presence in disability golf received another major boost as Vishnu Vardhan Bhati and Ankush Saha delivered impressive performances to secure second and third places , respectively, in the Nett Stroke Play category at the Czech Disabled Golf Masters , held at the Golf Resort Black Bridge in Prague .

The tournament witnessed strong competition from golfers across different nations, but the Indian duo displayed remarkable resilience and consistency to ensure a memorable double podium finish.

Bhati , who hails from Noida , finished as the runner-up with an overall score of two-under par . He made a sensational start to the tournament, leading the field at six-under par after the opening round. However, challenging weather conditions and energy-draining heat in the final round prevented him from holding on to the top spot. Despite the setback, he produced a commendable performance to finish second.

Bengaluru's Ankush Saha staged one of the biggest comebacks of the competition. After ending the first round in 10th place with a three-over 75 , Saha bounced back brilliantly in the final round by carding a net three-under score. His impressive recovery helped him finish with an overall level-par total , earning him third place . The podium position was decided on the basis of a superior second-round score, highlighting the significance of his strong finish.

The tournament title went to Czech Republic's Teresa Srsnova , who also finished at two-under par . Like the battle for third place, the winner was determined through a better second-round performance after players finished with identical totals.

Bhati's achievement adds another milestone to an inspiring sporting journey. An amputee athlete , he switched to golf just three years ago after previously representing India in para cricket at the 2019 Para Cricket World Cup in England . Since taking up golf, he has steadily progressed on the international stage, competing in events such as the English Open for Disabled Golfers in Durham in 2025 and the Daikin Madrid Cup in Spain. Before the Prague event, he held a World Ranking for Golfers with Disability ( WR4GD) of 182 in the Stableford category.

For Saha , the tournament marked an impressive debut on the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) calendar. A talented marathon runner with an intellectual disability , he already boasts an outstanding record in Special Olympics competitions. His achievements include a gold medal in 2014 , a silver medal in 2015 , and gold in individual skills at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin. He also represented India at the 2025 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.

The double podium finish reflects the growing strength of Indian golfers with disabilities on the international stage. As more athletes receive opportunities to compete globally, performances like those of Bhati and Saha continue to inspire and reinforce India's rising stature in disability sports.
