Fresh from her impressive run at the World Junior Championships , silver medallist Tanvi Sharma displayed composure and fighting spirit to overcome Germany's Yvonne Li in straight games. The young Indian battled through a closely contested opening game before sealing a 23-21, 21-16 victory, underlining why she is regarded as one of the country's most promising talents.
India's strong showing in the women's singles category continued with Devika Sihag , the reigning Thailand Masters champion , producing a dominant performance against Peru's Ines Lucia Castillo . Devika controlled the contest from the outset and wrapped up a comfortable 21-14, 21-14 win to move ahead confidently in the competition.
In the men's singles draw, former world championship medallist Kidambi Srikanth reminded everyone of his class with a commanding display. Seeded fifth in the tournament, Srikanth outplayed fellow Indian D Saneeth 21-14, 21-12 in just 30 minutes. His sharp movement and attacking game left little room for resistance as he secured passage to the next round with ease.
Another all-Indian clash saw promising youngster Rounak Chouhan emerge victorious against former world junior silver medallist S Sankar Muthusamy . Chouhan held his nerve during crucial moments, especially in the opening game, before completing a 23-21, 21-16 triumph.
India's success story extended further with Rakshitha Sree , who produced a clinical performance to defeat Tereza Svabikova of the Czech Republic 21-15, 21-8. Her commanding victory added to an encouraging day for the Indian camp.
The mixed doubles event also brought good news as Dhruv Rawat and K Maneesha comfortably defeated Indonesia's Wirawan Ihsan Adam and Serena Kani 21-15, 21-16 in just 26 minutes.
