Indian Wrestlers Shine in Mongolia with Four Golds at Ulaanbaatar Open

India's wrestlers produced an impressive display on the international stage as Manisha and Neha clinched gold medals in the women's category, helping the country secure a rich haul of four gold and two bronze medals at the ongoing Ulaanbaatar Open Ranking Series in Mongolia.

The strong performances reinforced India's growing stature in world wrestling, with the contingent making a powerful start to the prestigious tournament. The women's and Greco Roman wrestlers combined to deliver six medals, placing India among the standout nations in the competition.

Leading the charge were Manisha and Neha, who overcame tough opponents from DPR Korea in their respective finals. Manisha captured the 57kg title after a determined 3-1 victory over Sim Son , while Neha emerged victorious in the 59kg category , defeating Pyol Hong 5-3 to secure another gold for India.

The success was not limited to the women's section. India's Greco Roman wrestlers also enjoyed a memorable campaign, collecting two gold medals and a bronze. Sunil claimed the 87kg gold medal with a composed 4-1 win over Azad Salidinov , while Nitesh triumphed in the 97kg division , overcoming Nurassyl Amanaly 13-9 in a high scoring final.

Adding to India's tally, Sumit secured the bronze medal in the 60kg category , defeating fellow Indian wrestler Sahil by a convincing 5-0 margin.

Earlier in the tournament, Neelam earned a bronze medal in the 50kg division , registering a dominant 10-0 technical superiority victory over Kazakhstan's Maral Tangirbergenova .

Welcoming the strong start, Wrestling Federation of India President Sanjay Singh praised the wrestlers for their performances against quality international opposition and expressed confidence that the momentum would continue through the remainder of the competition.

With the men's freestyle events and the remaining women's weight categories set to begin on Saturday, India will look to build on its encouraging start and add more medals to an already impressive campaign in Mongolia.
