India's Jadumani Crushes Pakistan Rival, Preeti Storms Into Commonwealth Boxing Quarterfinals

India enjoyed another memorable day in the Commonwealth Games 2026 boxing competition as Jadumani Singh outclassed Pakistan's Sumama Rehman, while Preeti Pawar delivered a dominant victory to book her place in the quarterfinals. Both Indian boxers are now just one win away from securing a medal for the country.

The highly anticipated India-Pakistan contest generated an electric atmosphere at the SEC Centre, with passionate Indian supporters filling the arena with chants of "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "India, India". Rising to the occasion, Jadumani produced a composed and technically superior display to seal a unanimous 5-0 victory.

After a cautious opening round, the Army boxer quickly found his rhythm, landing sharp hooks and accurate straight punches while controlling the pace of the bout. His relentless attack forced the referee to issue a standing count to Rehman in the second round after a powerful right hand. Jadumani remained in complete command in the final round, confidently countering every attack to complete a one-sided victory.

Following the bout, Jadumani dedicated his win to the heroes of the Kargil War and reaffirmed his determination to win the gold medal for India in Glasgow.

Earlier, Preeti Pawar (54kg) barely faced any resistance as she defeated Deborah Mtenje of Malawi by Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in the second round. The Asian Games bronze medallist dominated from the opening bell, earning unanimous approval from all five judges in the first round before forcing two standing counts on her opponent. With 47 seconds remaining in the second round, the referee halted the contest, handing Preeti a comfortable victory.

The result leaves Preeti just one win away from claiming her first Commonwealth Games medal.

India, however, suffered one setback as Aditya Pratap exited the men's 65kg competition after a narrow 2-3 split-decision loss to Uganda's Nuhu Batte in the opening round.

With Jadumani and Preeti advancing in impressive fashion, India's boxing campaign continues to build momentum as the country edges closer to adding more medals to its tally in Glasgow.
