The IPL transfer market has begun generating buzz with reports suggesting that Hardik Pandya could be on his way out of the Mumbai Indians setup. The five-time IPL champions have reportedly received trade enquiries from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the star India all-rounder.

According to sources familiar with the developments, KKR's top management has held multiple rounds of discussions with Mumbai Indians regarding a potential deal. The initial approach was reportedly made towards the end of the previous season. However, with Reliance Industries focused on its annual general meeting at the time, IPL-related discussions were not a priority.

KKR are understood to be actively searching for a long-term leader. Ajinkya Rahane , who captained the side, was reportedly viewed as a temporary solution, and the franchise is now exploring future leadership options. If Pandya joins KKR, he is expected to become the frontrunner for the captaincy role, with the franchise reportedly unconvinced about handing leadership responsibilities to Rinku Singh at this stage.

The exact nature of the proposed deal remains unclear. Mumbai Indians could opt for an all-cash transfer or negotiate a player swap. Under IPL regulations, trade discussions can only take place between franchises. A player cannot independently negotiate with another team, and any transfer requires the player's consent.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have also shown interest in Pandya. One proposal is believed to involve a swap deal featuring Yashasvi Jaiswal , although there is no confirmation that negotiations have progressed significantly.

Despite Rajasthan's interest, the franchise is reportedly looking at Riyan Parag as its long-term captain, which may limit Pandya's leadership prospects there.

As things stand, KKR appears to be the more realistic destination if Mumbai Indians decide to part ways with Pandya. However, no agreement has been finalised, and discussions remain ongoing.
