Is Dhanush Entering Politics? Viral Welfare Speech Sparks Fresh Speculation

Is Dhanush preparing for a political leap? That's the question dominating social media after the actor's latest public appearance sparked a fresh wave of speculation. A video of the National Award-winning star addressing a blood donation camp organised by his fans has gone viral, with many comparing his remarks to the early political journey of Thalapathy Vijay.

Standing before hundreds of supporters, Dhanush made it clear that fan power should go beyond celebrating movie releases. Instead, he urged them to transform their unity into a force for community service.

"So many people are gathered in one place. There's a great power in this kind of unity. We need to give that unity a purpose. Beyond just audio launches and meetups, we need to engage in even more welfare activities. Understand the needs of the people in your area, the families living around you and help them in whatever way possible. Do whatever help you can for them. I need to feel even prouder of you. I believe you will do it," the actor said.

Within minutes, clips of the speech exploded across X, with fans claiming Dhanush could be following the same roadmap Vijay used before launching Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Vijay's fan organisation had spent years conducting blood donation drives, educational assistance and welfare programmes before his formal political entry, making the similarities impossible for fans to ignore.

One user wrote, "Looks like the queue for politics is getting longer. Everyone seems to think, 'If Thalapathy Vijay entered politics, why not me?'" Another posted, "Welcome to politics, Dhanush. Tamil Nadu needs educated, disciplined and courageous voices." A third added, "Looks like we can expect Dhanush launching his new party sooner than expected."

Interestingly, this isn't the first time the actor has found himself surrounded by political rumours. Just weeks ago, discussions erupted after Dhanush's fan club unveiled a new flag, leading many to wonder whether it hinted at bigger ambitions. At the time, there was no confirmation from the actor, while his father, filmmaker Kasthuri Raja, dismissed the speculation by saying only Dhanush could answer questions about any political plans.

The event wasn't only about politics. Dhanush also addressed the heated debate surrounding the National Film Awards, surprising many with his candid response. Acknowledging the criticism over Raayan winning Best Tamil Film, he admitted that there were "definitely better" Tamil films released that year and remarked that "some things simply fall into place on their own." However, he urged fans to celebrate the fact that a Tamil actor had brought home two National Awards in the same year rather than focus solely on the controversy.

At the awards, Dhanush received a Special Mention for Captain Miller, while his directorial Raayan won Best Tamil Film. Both honours generated intense online debate, with many cinephiles arguing that other Tamil releases deserved the top prize.
