Ishan Kishan’s Epic 270 Lights Up Duleep Trophy Final After Injury Scare

India batter and East Zone captain Ishan Kishan produced a sensational display of endurance and attacking batting, smashing 270 off 334 balls against South Zone in the Duleep Trophy final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Kishan, who had reached his maiden first-class double century earlier in the innings, initially retired hurt on 250 after battling cramps and exhaustion. However, he returned to the crease later in the day and completed a remarkable 270, finishing with 30 fours and seven sixes. His marathon innings lasted 522 minutes and played a central role in East Zone's imposing total.

The knock further strengthened Kishan's reputation as a performer in high-pressure matches. Last year, he smashed a blistering 101 off 49 balls against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final, helping Jharkhand win their maiden title. His consistent domestic performances have continued to keep him in contention for a return to India's Test setup.

Kishan's latest achievement also places him among the select group of batters to score a double century in a Duleep Trophy final. His 270 is now the second-highest individual score in a Duleep Trophy final, behind Raman Lamba's 320 for North Zone against West Zone in 1987. He is also the first East Zone batter to score a double century in a Duleep Trophy final and the third East Zone player to reach the landmark in the tournament, joining Arun Lal and Saba Karim.

East Zone's mammoth 708 was built around a series of major contributions. Kumar Kushagra scored 101 off 132 balls, while Shikhar Mohan made 85 and Abhimanyu Easwaran contributed 72. Kishan and Kushagra also shared a crucial 230-run partnership, pushing East Zone firmly into a commanding position.

The innings has once again put Kishan's red-ball credentials in the spotlight, with his ability to combine attacking strokeplay with patience providing East Zone with a huge advantage in the title clash.
