Jaipur Protest Fallout: Rajasthan Govt Assures Aid, Job for Deceased Supporter's Kin

Karni Sena chief Mahipal Singh Makrana on Wednesday said the Rajasthan government has accepted two of the organisation's key demands following the death of one of its supporters after a protest in Jaipur earlier this week.

Speaking to reporters after meeting BJP Rajasthan president Madan Rathore, Makrana said the government has agreed to provide financial assistance and a government job to the family of Devraj Singh, who died after participating in the Karni Sena rally held on Monday.

The protest was organised to demand the rollback of the UGC Regulations 2026 and to raise several issues concerning the Rajput community. During the rally, Devraj Singh reportedly fell ill and later died of a cardiac arrest at his home the same night, according to police.

Makrana described the government's decision as a positive step and thanked it for accepting what he termed the organisation's legitimate demands. However, he made it clear that the agitation against the UGC regulations would continue until the broader concerns raised by the Karni Sena are addressed.

He further alleged that certain officials were responsible for the circumstances leading to the protester's death. According to Makrana, the government has sought two to three days to initiate action against those officials. He said the organisation would submit video evidence to support its allegations, after which an inquiry would be conducted. Officials found responsible, he claimed, would face suspension following the investigation.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Madan Rathore stressed the need to preserve social harmony and resolve disputes through dialogue. He said the party believes everyone should receive equal respect and opportunities, adding that any incident should be addressed peacefully while keeping society united.

The developments come amid continuing protests by the Karni Sena over the UGC Regulations 2026, with the organisation indicating that its campaign will continue despite the government's announcement of relief measures for the deceased supporter's family.
