Jenny Shin One Round Away From Ending 10-Year LPGA Title Drought

Jenny Shin moved a step closer to ending a title drought of more than a decade after retaining her commanding lead following the third round of the Women's Scottish Open at Dundonald Links in Troon, Scotland, on Saturday.

The South Korean golfer carded a 1-under 71, recording two birdies and one bogey, to reach 12-under-par overall. Her steady performance ensured she remained five shots clear at the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round.

Shin, who has led the tournament since the opening day, is now within touching distance of claiming only the second LPGA Tour title of her career. Her lone LPGA victory came at the Texas Shootout in 2016, and another triumph would end a wait of more than 10 years.

Despite holding a comfortable advantage, Shin admitted the pressure of being so close to victory tested her composure during the third round.

She said there were moments when nerves made it difficult to focus, adding that she is trying to concentrate on each shot rather than thinking about the possibility of lifting the trophy. Shin acknowledged that staying in the present remains challenging but said she would do her best to maintain the same mindset that has helped her lead the tournament from the start.

Thailand's Pajaree Anannarukarn emerged as Shin's closest challenger after producing a flawless bogey-free 69, matching the lowest round of the day. The impressive effort lifted her from fourth to second place, although she still trails the leader by five strokes.

Japan's Erika Hara signed for a 71, while Germany's Esther Henseleit returned a 73, leaving both players tied for third at 5-under-par. South Korea's A Lim Kim slipped to fifth after a 2-over 74, dropping to 3-under overall.

With just one round remaining, Shin has put herself in an excellent position to complete a remarkable comeback story and finally end her decade-long wait for another LPGA Tour title. A composed final-round performance could see the South Korean lift one of the biggest trophies of her career.
