Job aspirant dies during GRP recruitment process in Mumbai
A 30-year-old job aspirant died after collapsing during the physical endurance test of a Government Railway Police recruitment drive in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai , police said on Monday.
The deceased, Akshay Misal , a resident of Maharashtra’s Buldhana district , had appeared for the recruitment process for the third time this year after failing to qualify in two previous attempts. As part of the selection procedure, candidates were required to complete running events ranging from 100 metres to 1,600 metres.
According to officials, Misal successfully completed the 1,600-metre run at the GRP ground in Ghatkopar and left the premises around late morning. He later went to rest at a nearby temple where several candidates were staying. A few hours after the test, he reportedly began feeling unwell and fainted multiple times.
Fellow candidates and volunteers rushed him in an auto-rickshaw to Rajawadi Hospital , where doctors declared him dead during treatment . Police clarified that the collapse did not occur on the recruitment ground but several hours after he had completed the physical test and left the venue.
The Pant Nagar police station registered an accidental death report and initiated further investigation. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report , officials said, adding that no signs of external injury or foul play were noticed during the preliminary inquiry.
