Justice Mallikarjuna Rao Takes Oath As Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta

Former Andhra Pradesh High Court judge Justice Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao was sworn in as the state’s new Lokayukta on Tuesday, marking the beginning of his tenure in the anti-corruption watchdog’s top post.

The oath of office was administered by Governor S. Abdul Nazeer at a ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Lok Bhavan in Vijayawada.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu attended the ceremony along with Labour Minister Vasamsetti Subhash and MSME Minister K. Srinivas. Following the oath-taking, the Governor and the Chief Minister congratulated Justice Mallikarjuna Rao and presented him with bouquets.

The ceremony began with the participation of J. Shyamala Rao, Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department. The Lokayukta Registrar formally read out the appointment warrant issued by the Governor before the oath was administered.

Several senior officials and dignitaries attended the event, including Andhra Pradesh High Court judges, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta and Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas.

Justice Mallikarjuna Rao, a former High Court judge, now assumes responsibility as the head of the state’s Lokayukta institution, which is tasked with examining allegations of corruption and maladministration involving public functionaries in accordance with the law.
