The services rendered by veteran leader Kaka Venkataswamy for workers’ rights, the interests of Telangana and the welfare of weaker and underprivileged sections of society will remain memorable, his son and Minister Vivek Venkataswamy said. He made the remarks while recalling his father’s contributions at the 97th birth anniversary celebrations of Kaka Venkataswamy organised by the Telangana Department of Language and Culture.

The commemorative programme brought together several prominent political leaders and former public representatives who remembered Kaka Venkataswamy’s long public life and his commitment to social causes. Senior Congress leader K. Jana Reddy, former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin, MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna and several other leaders attended the event.

Speakers at the programme recalled Kaka Venkataswamy’s role in raising issues concerning workers and marginalised communities. They highlighted his political journey, fighting spirit and sustained efforts towards improving the lives of people from weaker sections.

Describing his father as a source of inspiration rather than merely a political leader, Vivek said Kaka Venkataswamy consistently stood up for people who lacked a strong voice in society. He fought for workers’ rights and also raised his voice for the interests and rights of Telangana, he said.

Vivek also recalled his father’s contribution to the education sector. With a strong belief that education could transform the lives of poor and disadvantaged families, Kaka Venkataswamy established educational institutions and helped provide opportunities to thousands of students. His commitment to education, he said, reflected his broader vision of empowering weaker sections through access to knowledge and opportunities.

According to Vivek, his father demonstrated through his public life that politics should be used as an instrument of public service, rather than as a means of pursuing positions or personal interests. His dedication to the people made him a respected figure among workers and disadvantaged communities.

Vivek said he considered it a privilege to have been born as Kaka Venkataswamy’s son and regarded it as his responsibility to continue working for the welfare of weaker sections by following the path laid down by his father.

He added that Kaka Venkataswamy’s ideals and legacy would continue to inspire generations. The values he stood for, Vivek said, would remain a guiding force as long as efforts continued to realise his vision for society.
