'Kalki 2' Opens Casting Call: Prabhas’ Sequel Hunts for Fresh Talent

Prabhas’ highly anticipated 'Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2' has opened a fresh casting call, inviting aspiring actors to audition for roles in the upcoming sci-fi sequel. The announcement comes as the Nag Ashwin directorial moves ahead with production and expands its ensemble.

The casting call, shared on August 10, 2026, reportedly carries no age or gender restrictions, with the makers seeking fresh talent for the expanding Kalki Cinematic Universe. The latest move suggests that the production is looking to add new characters and supporting performers rather than indicating any change to its established male leads.

The sequel is being directed by Nag Ashwin, with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan returning to the central conflict established in the first film. Prabhas is set to reprise Bhairava, while Bachchan and Haasan are expected to continue as Ashwatthama and Supreme Yaskin respectively.

Production plans have evolved over the past year. Reports had indicated that principal shooting would begin in February 2026, with the makers subsequently working toward longer shooting schedules.

One of the biggest casting developments surrounding the sequel has been Deepika Padukone’s exit. Her return as Sumathi remains off the table following her departure from the project, leading to speculation about a new female lead. Sai Pallavi has been linked to the sequel, while recent reports have also claimed that Alia Bhatt has joined the project. However, these casting reports have not been officially confirmed by the makers.

The sequel is expected to considerably expand the mythology, characters and visual world established in 'Kalki 2898 AD'. December 2027 has been reported as the target theatrical window, although the makers have yet to officially announce a final release date.
