Karimnagar Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai has called for greater use of technology to improve the transparency and efficiency of civic development works across the city. During a visit to the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at the Municipal Corporation office, he reviewed the functioning of various digital monitoring systems and stressed the need for effective supervision of municipal activities.

The commissioner examined the GPS-based vehicle tracking system, the Vehicle Transport Management System and fuel sensors used to monitor the consumption of fuel by municipal vehicles. He also checked real-time vehicle location data to assess how technology was being used to track municipal operations. Officials from the engineering and sanitation departments accompanied him during the inspection.

The visit also focused on a newly developed dashboard application designed to record and monitor municipal development projects. A PowerPoint presentation was organised to familiarise engineering officials and staff with the application's features, functions and practical uses. ICCC representatives explained how the platform could help officials access project-related information and monitor work progress more systematically.

According to Desai, the dashboard will serve as a centralised digital platform for maintaining details of all development works undertaken by the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. Projects implemented using different grants and funding sources can be recorded and monitored through the same system, enabling officials to obtain a comprehensive view of the city's ongoing civic works.

The application will provide access to information on tenders, contracts, work progress, completed projects and pending assignments. Officials will also be able to update records periodically, helping the municipal administration track the status of individual projects and identify works that need closer attention. Bringing these details together is expected to make project monitoring more organised and improve access to information.

The commissioner directed engineering officials and staff to ensure that all project details entered into the dashboard were accurate and updated within the prescribed timeframes. He emphasised that the system's effectiveness would depend on the quality and regular maintenance of the information recorded.

Desai further instructed officials to make optimal use of available technology to complete development works within stipulated deadlines without compromising quality. The dashboard initiative is intended to strengthen administrative oversight, improve coordination and support more transparent monitoring of municipal projects across Karimnagar.
