Kavitha Backs SIT Inquiry, Vows Cooperation in Phone Tapping Case
Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday said she would fully cooperate with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) if summoned in the phone tapping case , while sharply criticising comments made by her brother and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) regarding the questioning of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) .
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Kavitha said no individual is above the law and stressed that political leaders must respect legal procedures instead of attacking investigating agencies. She described KTR’s reaction to KCR being questioned by the SIT as unnecessary and inappropriate .
Kavitha said KTR appeared to portray the mere act of questioning KCR as a grave injustice , which, she argued, sends the wrong message. “People in public life are bound to face inquiries. Cooperating with investigations is essential for truth to come out ,” she said.
She added that transparency in the probe would help bring the case to a logical conclusion. Kavitha also questioned why KCR had not been examined earlier in the case and suggested that the party should introspect internally on this issue. She said KCR himself would clarify what transpired during the SIT questioning.
“I will go and cooperate if the SIT calls me for questioning ,” Kavitha said, recalling that she had earlier attended ED and CBI inquiries in the Delhi excise policy case despite maintaining her innocence.
Issuing a strong warning to the party leadership, Kavitha said the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would not survive if it failed to change its political mindset .
Raising serious allegations, she expressed doubts about whether the full truth in the phone tapping case would ever come out , claiming there was a “match-fixing” understanding between the ruling Congress government and a senior BRS leader . Her remarks triggered political speculation, with observers suggesting she was indirectly referring to BRS MLA T. Harish Rao .
Kavitha alleged that the Congress government was amplifying the phone tapping case ahead of the February 11 municipal elections and would likely sideline it once the polls were over. She pointed out that there had been no real progress in the investigation over the past two years and demanded that the government push the probe forward if it was genuinely committed to transparency.
Criticism of Government MoUs:
Kavitha also attacked the state government over its investment agreements, claiming that several MoUs signed in the name of attracting investments were fake . She alleged that some companies involved do not even have functional websites , questioning the credibility of the deals.
It may be recalled that Kavitha was suspended from the BRS in September 2025 after accusing Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar of attempting to damage KCR’s reputation in connection with the Kaleshwaram project . Since then, she has been actively engaging with the public independently under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi .
Her latest comments have once again brought internal rifts within the Kalvakuntla family into the spotlight. Meanwhile, after KCR’s questioning, KTR dismissed the phone tapping case as baseless , claiming it lacked any factual substance.
