Kavitha Calls Revanth Government A ‘Failure Government’

Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kavitha Kalvakuntla on Saturday accused the Revanth Reddy government of neglecting the education and healthcare sectors and described it as a “failure government”. She said the government had failed to address basic public-service issues and announced that her organisation would launch a sustained campaign over problems in health and education.

Speaking to the media at the Telangana Rakshana Sena office in Banjara Hills, Kavitha said the recent incident at RIMS Adilabad, in which five infants were reported dead, highlighted the poor conditions in government hospitals. She said data available to her showed 6,000 infant deaths in 2020-21, 4,933 in 2022-23 and 3,853 in 2024-25. She also claimed that 1,046 children died in Hyderabad last year. However, she said the government should officially verify the source and definitions behind these figures.

Kavitha alleged that the government had promised to allocate 10 per cent of the State budget to healthcare, but was providing only around 5 per cent. She said ₹13,192 crore was allocated to the health sector last year, while only ₹9,242 crore was spent. She also questioned the utilisation of funds and claimed that the CAG had raised concerns over unspent allocations.

She alleged that NIMS and Niloufer Hospital were under severe pressure, with patients facing long waits for beds and surgeries. She claimed bed occupancy at Niloufer had reached 200 per cent and said doctors and staff were working beyond their capacity.

On education, Kavitha alleged that several government schools lacked basic sanitation and adequate toilet facilities for girls. She urged party workers to inspect schools, identify deficiencies and mobilise community support to address urgent needs.

Kavitha also defended her farmhouse, saying there was no encroached land on the property and that all her assets had been legally acquired. She accused the government of diverting attention from governance issues and questioned the status of SIT probes into phone tapping and other cases.

She announced that the Telangana Rakshana Sena would contest the Khairatabad by-election. Kavitha also raised concerns over the voter-list revision process, alleging that minor clerical errors could result in names being deleted when voters have no option to rectify them.

Kavitha said her organisation would soon announce an action plan on irrigation and drinking-water issues. She also demanded clarity from the Chief Minister on relief for victims of the Nerella incident in Sircilla and said the government must address pending grievances before holding political programmes in the district.
