KCR Being Protected by ‘Adopted Son’ Kishan Reddy: CM Revanth Reddy
With the Telangana municipal elections scheduled for February 11, the political environment in the state is heating up. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday launched sharp criticisms against the BJP , alleging that Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy is protecting former Chief Minister and BRS President Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) from corruption allegations.
Speaking at a public meeting after participating in development programs in Nizamabad, CM Revanth Reddy questioned Kishan Reddy’s handling of alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project , calling it “suspicious.” He claimed that Kishan Reddy is acting like an “adopted son” to shield KCR from action.
Recalling Kishan Reddy’s earlier statement that KCR would be arrested within 48 hours if the Kaleshwaram investigation were handed over to the CBI , Revanth Reddy said no progress has been seen so far. Despite the state assembly passing a resolution to refer the inquiry to the CBI, no action has been taken, he added. CM also alleged that KCR, along with his son KTR , is attempting to ensure his protection through Kishan Reddy.
Revanth Reddy also criticized Nizamabad BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind , noting that although he often called for KCR’s arrest, no tangible steps have been taken. He accused the BJP and BRS of having secret understandings, likening the two parties’ cooperation to colliding waves. “Voting for these two parties is like casting a vote into the Musi River ,” he remarked.
Addressing BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao’s comment calling him “Revanth Uddin,” the CM said he had no objection. He explained that various communities affectionately call him different names based on their preferences and said he welcomes them. “Whether it is Revanth Yadav, Revanth Goud, or ‘Sardar Revanth Singh,’ I embrace it,” he added.
The CM also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the four percent reservation for Muslims and stated that the administration is working to position Telangana as a leading state by integrating all communities and religions. He recalled that the Congress has historically provided key positions to Muslim leaders and other communities.
At the same time, Revanth Reddy criticized the NDA government for not providing adequate funds for state development projects. He asserted that the BJP has no moral right to seek votes in the municipal elections while refusing to cooperate on development. In response, Union Minister Kishan Reddy referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s past remarks on Congress, claiming that the party caters to special vote banks and hence is called the “Muslim League Congress” in a former X (Twitter) post.
As the municipal elections approach, the political exchanges between Congress, BJP, and BRS are intensifying, with allegations and counter-allegations expected to escalate further.
During his visit to Nizamabad district as part of the “Praja Palana – Pragati Path” program, CM Revanth Reddy announced major development funds. At a large public meeting in Bardipur village of Dichpalli Mandal, he inaugurated several projects, pledging to position Induru district at the forefront in education and agriculture.
Foundation stones were laid for the Young India Integrated Residential Schools in Armur, Bodhan, and Nizamabad Rural Assembly constituencies, totaling ₹600 crore (₹200 crore per school). CM emphasized that strengthening education and providing quality education to rural students remain government priorities.
He also initiated multiple development works at Telangana University , including a ₹20 crore hostel for SC students, an ₹8.60 crore girls’ hostel, a ₹1.36 crore indoor stadium, and foundation stones for a ₹43 crore university auditorium, administration building, and CSE block expansion. Additionally, he inaugurated the University Science Lab constructed at a cost of ₹18 crore.
Under the Tribal Welfare Department, foundation stones were laid for staff residences and additional facilities at the Ekalavya Model Residential School in Indalwai. As part of district road infrastructure development, he initiated works worth ₹21 crore for widening the Gandhi Nagar–Binola road and the PWD & JNN road via Sirnapalli to Nizampur.
CM highlighted that Nizamabad is a model for agriculture in India and pledged to provide additional funds to complete ongoing projects. He assured full commitment to the comprehensive development of the district.
During the event, CM Revanth Reddy handed over bank linkage cheques worth ₹200 crore to 1,614 self-help groups under Induru District Women’s Associations. He emphasized the need for public cooperation to advance Telangana along the path of development. Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Government Advisor P. Sudarshan Reddy, and MLC Mohammed Ali Shabbir, among others, participated in the program.
