KCR To Enter People’s Arena After Assembly Session, Says Harish Rao

BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) will soon return to the public arena and lead a major campaign against the Congress government’s alleged failures, former minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao said on Sunday.

Harish Rao was speaking after a BRS Legislature Party meeting chaired by KCR at Erravelli to chalk out the party’s strategy for the Assembly and Legislative Council sessions beginning on Monday. He said the BRS had decided to mobilise lakhs of people and launch a sustained public movement after the sessions.

He alleged that nearly 1,000 days into the Congress government, students, unemployed youth, employees, farmers, women, Dalits, tribals and BCs continued to face problems. The BRS will demand at the Business Advisory Committee meeting that the Legislature be convened for at least a month to enable detailed discussions on public issues.

Harish Rao accused the government of neglecting irrigation projects, particularly Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Rangareddy. He claimed water was available at Kaleshwaram but was not being lifted for farmers. He also said the Palamuru-Rangareddy project was about 80% complete during the previous BRS government and that completing the remaining works could make 60 TMC of water available.

The party will raise several issues during the session, including agricultural lands placed under the 22-A prohibited list, power cuts, farm loan waiver, Polytechnic GO 97, Singareni, PRC, DA and EHS. Harish Rao said fee reimbursement arrears affecting nearly 30 lakh students would also be taken up, warning that the BRS could disrupt proceedings if necessary to fight for students.

Reacting to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s comments seeking KCR’s resignation, Harish Rao said the Chief Minister should first account for the implementation of the six guarantees and loan-waiver promise. He accused Revanth Reddy of diverting attention from public issues.

Harish Rao also criticised the Chief Minister’s language in the Assembly, citing political leaders such as N.T. Rama Rao, Jayalalithaa, M. Karunanidhi and N. Chandrababu Naidu, who, he said, had returned to public life after facing difficult political situations.

On KCR’s security, Harish Rao questioned whether protecting a former two-time Chief Minister and Opposition leader was not the government’s responsibility. He also alleged that four gunmen had been assigned to Revanth Reddy’s brother Tirupathi Reddy, and demanded an explanation over the expenditure.

He said people were already protesting over various issues and warned that voters would eventually teach the Congress government a lesson.
