KCR’s welfare schemes have been stalled: Harish Rao
Former minister Harish Rao undertook an extensive tour of Isnapur Municipality in the Sangareddy constituency . During the visit, he interacted directly with local women, listening to their problems and views. Addressing a subsequent meeting, he criticised the performance of the state government.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said people had witnessed 10 years of governance under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and were now comparing it with the two years of rule by the present Congress government . He said several panchayat secretaries and employees had recently met him and shared their grievances. He reminded them that it was the KCR government that had provided them jobs, regularised their services and increased their salaries. Employees were now regretting that they had trusted the Congress government and felt cheated, he alleged.
Harish Rao said the KCR government had increased pensions from ₹200 to ₹2,000, while the Congress government had promised ₹4,000 but failed to implement it. Over the past 24 months, each elderly person was owed pension arrears of around ₹52,000, he claimed. He also alleged that the promise of paying ₹2,500 per month to women had not been fulfilled.
He said there were delays in the implementation of welfare schemes such as KCR Kit and Kalyana Lakshmi . Recalling that Isnapur earlier faced power supply issues, he said the KCR government had ensured 24-hour electricity , but power cuts had increased again under the present government. He alleged that free bus travel had caused losses to auto-rickshaw drivers and increased the burden on other commuters.
Harish Rao also criticised the Chief Minister’s choice of language , saying a Chief Minister should speak with decorum and that the language being used in the Assembly was inappropriate. He alleged that schemes such as Bathukamma sarees, Rythu Bandhu, Dalit Bandhu and the sheep distribution programme had been halted, and that welfare programmes implemented during the KCR government were no longer being continued.
With municipal elections in Isnapur approaching, Harish Rao urged people to vote thoughtfully. He called on voters to elect BRS candidates if they wanted development to continue and welfare schemes to be restored, and said the people should give a fitting reply to the Congress party through their vote.
