Kejriwal Questions E20 Fuel Rollout After Interacting With Delhi Vehicle Owners

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday visited a petrol pump and service station in Delhi to assess public concerns over E20 ethanol-blended petrol , alleging that motorists are experiencing reduced fuel efficiency and vehicle performance issues.

During the visit, Kejriwal interacted with vehicle owners, service station workers, and mechanics, while also inspecting vehicle engines to gather first-hand feedback. He claimed that many consumers complained of lower mileage and engine-related problems after using petrol blended with 20 per cent ethanol .

Calling the government's assurances on E20 fuel " white lies ," Kejriwal alleged that the official narrative does not reflect the experiences shared by consumers on the ground. He said motorists were frustrated by the issues and urged the government to acknowledge and address their concerns instead of dismissing them.

The visit comes amid an ongoing debate over India's E20 ethanol blending programme , which aims to reduce dependence on imported crude oil and promote cleaner fuels.

Last week, the Central government issued a detailed rebuttal to claims circulating on social media about E20 fuel, rejecting allegations that the blend causes engine damage, invalidates vehicle insurance, or poses environmental risks. The government described such claims as misinformation and defended the ethanol blending initiative.
