Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: He Planned Her Birthday for a Month, Police Say She Allegedly Planned His Murder

A month before his death, 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal was reportedly planning an elaborate birthday celebration for his fiancée Siya Goyal . Investigators now allege that during the same period, Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary were plotting to kill him, culminating in a fatal fall from a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18.

The case, initially registered as an accidental trekking death, took a dramatic turn after police examined CCTV footage from the fort's ticket counter. Officers noticed a hooded man, later identified as Chaudhary, following Agarwal and Goyal while wearing a hoodie despite temperatures touching 33 degrees Celsius. His attempts to conceal his face and his suspicious movements prompted investigators to probe deeper.

Police said the conspiracy may have begun weeks earlier. According to investigators, Goyal repeatedly persuaded Agarwal to visit Lohagad Fort and allegedly made multiple attempts to push him from a cliff. During one visit on June 14, Agarwal survived after grabbing a bush. When he questioned what had happened, Goyal allegedly claimed she was saving him from a snake. Investigators now consider the snake rescue claim part of the first failed murder attempt .

The probe also uncovered other suspicious developments. A planned pre wedding photoshoot in Bali was cancelled after Agarwal's passport mysteriously disappeared. Technical analysis revealed 2,004 calls exchanged between Goyal and Chaudhary over seven months, strengthening police allegations of a criminal conspiracy .

Agarwal, director and chief marketing officer of the family run Success Group, became engaged to Goyal in February and was due to marry her in Udaipur in November. Police said he had also been planning a birthday celebration and Goa trip for Goyal. Investigators believe the accused wanted to eliminate him before the wedding.

Both Goyal and Chaudhary have been arrested and charged with murder and criminal conspiracy. Police continue to examine digital, forensic and financial evidence as the investigation progresses.
