Khan Sir's Patna Coaching Institute Attacked in Late-Night Vandalism, Rival Institute in the Dock
A brazen act of violence rattled Bihar’s competitive exam corridor late Tuesday night when the Khan Global Coaching Institute , run by popular educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, was attacked by a mob in the Musallahpur Haat area of Patna’s Kadamkuan locality, one of the state’s densest hubs for coaching centres.
The incident took place at around 10:10 PM on June 2 under the jurisdiction of Kadamkuan Police Station. Unidentified men reportedly forced their way into the premises, causing damage to interior property and physically assaulting the security guard on duty , who was later hospitalised for treatment. The institute’s banner was also torn down, while local shopkeepers reportedly shuttered their establishments as panic spread across the area.
A police team was immediately dispatched after information about the attack. Following examination of CCTV footage and witness statements, authorities identified around 15 to 20 individuals allegedly linked to Gyan Bindu Coaching Centre as being involved in stone pelting and vandalism . Senior police officials, including Patna SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma, reached the spot to assess the situation and restore order. Kadamkuan SHO Janmejay Kumar confirmed that written complaints from both sides had been received.
Khan Sir arrived at the centre around 11:30 PM and alleged that anti-social elements not only vandalised the institute but also opened fire on the premises . However, police clarified in an official statement that no firing was confirmed based on CCTV footage, stating the incident involved only stone pelting and vandalism. Both sides have made counter allegations , and police said all claims are under verification and investigation.
Addressing the media, Khan Sir attributed the attack to professional jealousy , questioning how anyone could object to affordable education . He said CCTV footage has been handed over to investigators and claimed that the security guard had identified several accused persons, while demanding stronger security arrangements for coaching centres in the area.
The attack has triggered concern among the student community , with fears of disruption to exam preparation. One student, Mayank Yadav, said the incident damages the image of Bihar’s education ecosystem and warned that any closure of the centre would severely impact exam readiness . Another student, Ajay Kumar, said he heard a sound resembling a gunshot late at night and only understood the scale of the incident later through news reports.
Police teams remain deployed in the area, with raids underway to trace and arrest those involved. Officials said further legal action will follow once the investigation is completed, as the incident once again highlights the intense and often volatile competition among coaching institutes in Patna’s exam preparation belt.
