Kiran Abbavaram Turns Director With ‘Reality’, Eyes Diwali Release

Kiran Abbavaram is stepping into the director’s chair after the success of his latest release Chennai Love Story, taking on multiple responsibilities for his upcoming film Reality.

The actor is making his directorial debut with Reality, a project in which he is also serving as the lead actor. Kiran has additionally contributed to the story and screenplay, marking a significant expansion of his creative role in the film. The project was launched in Hyderabad in June, with production getting underway soon after.

According to the latest reports, shooting is progressing at a brisk pace as the team works towards completing the film within its planned schedule. The project is being mounted on a comparatively lavish scale and is backed by overseas distributor Sudhakar Chaganti under his Joy Films banner, with Suresh Yerra associated as co producer.

Reality is described as a high concept commercial entertainer with a youthful and family oriented appeal. While the makers have kept key story details under wraps, the film is expected to feature several actors in important roles, alongside an experienced technical team.

The film comes at an important point in Kiran’s career. His recent romantic drama Chennai Love Story, directed by Ravi Namburii and co starring Sri Gouri Priya, released worldwide on July 24. The film was produced by Sai Rajesh and SKN and featured music by veteran composer Mani Sharma.

With Reality, Kiran is now attempting to move beyond acting and take greater creative control over his films. The makers are reportedly targeting the Diwali festive season for its theatrical release, which could give the project a strong holiday window if production and post production remain on schedule.

Kiran also has another major project in the pipeline. His upcoming mythological action fantasy Indraputra, directed by debutant Srikanth Puppala, was recently announced, with principal photography expected to begin in October. The film is planned as the first chapter of a larger mythological universe.
