KPSC Orders Probe Into Alleged Irregularities in Veterinary Officer Recruitment

The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) has

decided to put on hold the final selection list for 400 Veterinary Officer posts pending an internal inquiry into alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting following a complaint lodged at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station on July 24 and reports in social and mainstream media about the recruitment process. The commission also took note of an FIR registered by police on July 25.

The KPSC has constituted an Internal Inquiry Sub-Committee, headed by a senior member of the commission, to examine the allegations. The panel has been directed to scrutinise every stage of the examination and recruitment process, verify relevant records and submit a detailed factual report within a week.

KPSC Secretary K Jyothi and the head of the commission's legal cell have been appointed as nodal officers to provide administrative details and legal assistance to the inquiry. The commission has temporarily stayed the final selection list, which was published on July 17, 2026, until the inquiry report is submitted. It said further action would be based on the findings of the inquiry and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness and public confidence in the recruitment process.

The move follows allegations by a group of veterinary doctors, who claimed that middlemen demanded ₹70 lakh to ₹80 lakh from candidates in exchange for securing appointments. The complainants reportedly told police they had audio recordings of such conversations and sought a probe into the selection process.

They also alleged that some tests were conducted at resorts and questioned the marks secured by certain selected candidates, claiming the results had raised doubts over the fairness of the recruitment.

Meanwhile, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra alleged large-scale corruption in the recruitment and demanded a comprehensive investigation and strict action against those found guilty. Vijayendra said job aspirants who allegedly faced irregularities had approached him with their grievances. He assured them of BJP support and criticised the state government for failing to introduce reforms despite allegations concerning the KPSC, claiming that its inaction had eroded the commission's credibility.
