BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, alleging that it has failed to honour its electoral commitments, neglected the farming community and stalled key development projects undertaken during the previous BRS administration.

Addressing a BRS general body meeting in Vikarabad district on Sunday, KTR said the ruling party had come to power on the basis of promises that remain largely unfulfilled. Despite suffering from fever, he attended the meeting and provided guidance to party workers on the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls and the ongoing party membership drive.

KTR also criticised comments made by the Assembly Speaker regarding the state's debt burden, arguing that a person occupying a constitutional position should remain politically neutral. Referring to parliamentary records, he said Telangana's debt stood at around Rs 72,000 crore when K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) assumed office in 2014 and increased to Rs 3.52 lakh crore by the end of his tenure. However, he maintained that the borrowings were utilised for welfare programmes, medical colleges, residential educational institutions, enhanced pensions and 24-hour free electricity for farmers .

Highlighting the condition of the agriculture sector, KTR alleged that farmers were facing urea shortages and power disruptions , issues he claimed were absent during the BRS government's tenure. He accused Congress leaders of making unrealistic promises, including a Rs 2 lakh farm loan waiver and financial support for tenant farmers and agricultural labourers, only to abandon them after coming to power. He further alleged that the government had failed to fully implement even one of its six major guarantees despite promising to do so within 100 days.

The BRS leader also responded to what he described as threats of additional cases against party leaders, stating that such actions would only strengthen the party. He expressed confidence that KCR would return as Chief Minister in 2028 and alleged that Congress leaders were attempting to enrich themselves while in power.

KTR criticised the government's decision to allocate 2,900 acres of land for the proposed Navy radar project at Damagundam , claiming it would result in the felling of nearly 12 lakh trees. He further accused both the Congress and BJP of damaging environmental interests through projects linked to the Musi River .

On irrigation, he alleged that the Congress government had neglected the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project , which he said was 90 per cent complete under the BRS regime and had the potential to provide irrigation facilities to thousands of acres in the Vikarabad region.

Commenting on political defections, KTR accused the Speaker of failing to act against legislators who had shifted allegiance to other parties. He also levelled allegations of land-related irregularities against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's family .

Emphasising organisational strengthening, KTR said the party had successfully formed committees comprising 2,840 members across all 284 polling booths in the constituency. He urged workers to actively participate in the membership campaign and asserted that a stronger grassroots network would help BRS regain power and restore what he described as Telangana's development momentum.
