BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday mounted a strong attack on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of failing to honour its election commitments and neglecting key welfare and development promises made to the people.

Speaking at a meeting of party workers from the Cantonment Assembly constituency , KTR challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to announce that he would seek a fresh electoral mandate only after implementing the Congress party’s 420 election promises and the much-publicised six guarantees . He alleged that the government had failed to deliver on several assurances despite being in office for a considerable period.

Referring to the Chief Minister’s recent comments on agricultural power connections, KTR claimed that the Congress leadership was attempting to divert public attention from its unfulfilled commitments. He criticised the government for allegedly neglecting housing programmes and farmer welfare initiatives while continuing to make new promises.

The BRS leader also expressed concern over the proposal for a separate power distribution company for the agriculture sector , alleging that it was part of a strategy to gradually dilute the existing system of 24-hour free electricity supply to farmers . According to him, uninterrupted free power to agriculture was a landmark achievement of the previous BRS government under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) .

KTR argued that Telangana had transformed from a power-deficit state into a power-surplus state during the BRS regime and recalled earlier statements by Congress leaders regarding limited power supply to farmers. He alleged that the present government was now attempting to implement those ideas through policy changes.

Turning to Hyderabad’s development, KTR accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil promises made during the Cantonment by-election , particularly those related to housing construction. He said thousands of houses had been promised, but little progress had been made on the ground.

He also criticised the government's actions under HYDRAA , alleging that demolition drives were adversely affecting poor and middle-class families. In contrast, he highlighted the BRS government's record in developing urban infrastructure through flyovers, underpasses and bridges, while also implementing initiatives such as free drinking water supply, large-scale housing projects and land regularisation measures under GOs 58 and 59 .

The former minister further claimed that the previous BRS administration had successfully engaged with the Centre to resolve long-pending issues concerning defence lands and road connectivity in the Cantonment area, providing relief to local residents.

KTR urged party workers to remain active among the public despite the absence of immediate elections and to continuously highlight what he described as the Congress government's failures and anti-people policies. He also briefed cadres on the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and called upon them to stay connected with local issues and support citizens facing difficulties.

Senior BRS leaders, including Talasani Srinivas Yadav , Shambhipur Raju , Nivedita , Manne Krishank , and Gajjala Nagesh , were present at the meeting.
