KTR Launches ‘Congress Must Go, KCR Must Return’ Campaign at Maheshwaram Meeting
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday launched a strong attack on the Congress government in Telangana, asserting that public opinion across the state is increasingly favouring the return of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) . Addressing a meeting of key BRS workers in Maheshwaram constituency, KTR said the slogan “Congress Must Go, KCR Must Return” is now resonating across Telangana.
The meeting was organised under the leadership of former minister and Maheshwaram MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy . KTR said the enthusiasm displayed by party workers reflected growing support for the BRS and expressed confidence that the party would return to power in the next Assembly elections. He also predicted a comfortable victory for Sabitha Indra Reddy in the constituency.
Highlighting the achievements of the previous BRS government, KTR recalled that Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had recently visited Hyderabad’s Command and Control Centre and appreciated the infrastructure created under KCR’s leadership. He claimed that Telangana’s development model continues to receive recognition across the country.
Comparing the previous BRS administration with the current Congress government, KTR said the BRS had utilised borrowings to establish 1,020 Gurukul institutions , provide 24-hour free power supply , support farmers through Rythu Bandhu , and implement welfare initiatives such as Kalyana Lakshmi . In contrast, he alleged that the Congress government had accumulated substantial debt without creating significant public assets or launching major development projects.
KTR also accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of repeatedly changing his stand on key issues. Referring to the proposed Pharma City project , he alleged that Congress had earlier opposed the initiative and promised to return acquired land to farmers but was now pursuing a different development agenda under the banner of Future City . He further accused the government of failing to fulfil several election promises, including financial assistance commitments made to women.
The BRS leader criticised the government’s handling of agricultural and welfare schemes and challenged Congress to implement all its promised benefits. He also urged party workers to remain vigilant during the ongoing voter list revision exercise , ensuring that the names of eligible voters are not removed.
KTR called for the successful completion of the party’s digital membership drive and announced that every party worker would receive a dedicated identity card. Several senior BRS leaders, MLCs and former legislators attended the meeting.
