BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has accused the Congress government of large-scale financial irregularities in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), alleging that the public-sector coal miner is being weakened by mismanagement, questionable contracts and the diversion of funds. Addressing the Singareni Karmika Garjana meeting at Godavarikhani in Ramagundam, KTR demanded an independent investigation into alleged irregularities worth ₹10,000 crore, discrepancies in coal stocks, outstanding government dues and workers’ profit-sharing benefits.

KTR alleged that ₹6,317 crore had been diverted during 2023-24 and 2024-25, including ₹2,283 crore and ₹4,034 crore, respectively. He also claimed that approximately 40 lakh metric tonnes of coal had gone missing and questioned discrepancies between recorded inventories and coal available at the mines. He said the BRS had submitted evidence to Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy and approached the Governor, seeking an inquiry. KTR demanded a CBI investigation or an inquiry by a sitting judge.

SCCL's official figures show coal production declining from 70.02 million tonnes in 2023-24 to 69.01 million tonnes in 2024-25 and 58 million tonnes in 2025-26. Dispatches fell from 65.23 million tonnes in 2024-25 to 62.07 million tonnes in 2025-26. These figures indicate changes in operations but do not independently establish the alleged disappearance of coal.

KTR demanded the release of ₹60,000 crore in alleged government dues to Singareni and questioned the reported expenditure of ₹10 crore from company funds on a football event. He accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of blaming Singareni for coal shortages and sought a comprehensive report on coal supplies, electricity generation and the performance of the Jaipur Singareni Thermal Power Plant. He claimed power-generation capacity increased from 7,778 MW to 24,000 MW under the previous BRS government.

The dispute also concerns workers' benefits. KTR said the BRS government under K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) increased profit-sharing from 16% to 32%. He alleged that workers received only 12% this year despite a 34% announcement. The government, however, announced a ₹596-crore distribution, equivalent to 34% of SCCL's reported ₹1,754-crore post-tax profit for 2025-26, with permanent employees set to receive an average ₹1,53,912. KTR threatened protests at Congress ministers' and MLAs' residences if bonuses and benefits were withheld.

He also demanded medical boards three times monthly to clear pending compassionate appointments and raised concerns over land linked to around 3,000 houses in Bellampalli allegedly entering the Section 22-A prohibited list.

Recalling Singareni workers' 42-day strike during the Telangana statehood movement, KTR said their contribution must be protected. He asserted that Singareni's future depended on the BRS returning to power in 2028.

Former minister Gangula Kamalakar, MLAs Kova Laxmi and Padi Kaushik Reddy, former minister Koppula Eshwar, BRS general secretary T. Jeevan Reddy and Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham president Miriyala Rajireddy attended the meeting, along with other party leaders.
