Kyiv Rocked by Russian Missile and Drone Barrage, 10 Injured, Including a Child
At least 10 people, including a child, were injured after Russia launched a large-scale overnight missile and drone attack on Kyiv early Saturday, Ukrainian authorities said.
According to Ukraine's State Emergency Service , explosions and fires were reported in several parts of the capital, including the Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts . Emergency crews were deployed to multiple sites as firefighters battled blazes sparked by the strikes.
In the Solomianskyi district , a missile strike ignited a fire in a three-storey office and warehouse complex. Another warehouse caught fire in the Dniprovskyi district after being hit during the attack.
Ukraine's Air Force said Russia launched 10 missiles of various types, including six ballistic missiles, along with 121 drones overnight. Air defence systems reportedly shot down or electronically suppressed 111 drones and two missiles . However, direct hits were recorded at 11 locations , while debris from intercepted weapons fell at three additional sites.
Russia's Defence Ministry said its forces targeted drone production facilities in Kyiv and also struck the ports of Izmail and Chornomorsk in the southern Odesa region .
Moscow further claimed that Russian air defences destroyed 178 Ukrainian drones overnight across several Russian regions, as well as over the Crimean Peninsula , the Black Sea , and the Azov Sea .
The latest exchange of aerial attacks underscores the continuing intensity of the war, with both sides reporting major drone and missile operations as the conflict enters another year.
