The makers of ‘Last Man in Tower’, starring Manoj Bajpayee, have unveiled the teaser of the upcoming drama, which is set to hit theatres across India on September 11.

Directed by Ben Rekhi and produced by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, the film is based on acclaimed author Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name. It marks the first on-screen collaboration between Bajpayee and Boman Irani.

The story follows Masterji, a retired schoolteacher whose decision to stand against the wishes of his community sets off a growing conflict among the residents around him. As the characters face a life-changing offer, the film explores themes of community, family, compromise and personal choices.

The screenplay has been written by Sooni Taraporevala, while Juhi Chaturvedi has penned the Hindi-language dialogues. Divya Dutta and Sukant Goel also feature in key roles.

Director Ben Rekhi described the project as a deeply fulfilling experience and praised the collaboration between Bajpayee and Irani. He also highlighted Divya Dutta’s emotional depth, saying the combination of the three actors adds to the film’s world.

Rekhi called the film an “urgent story about holding onto community and family through turbulent times.” The Los Angeles-based filmmaker is known for projects including the SXSW Audience Award-winning ‘Waterborne’ and ‘Watch List’. His documentary short ‘The Breakthrough Group’ qualified for the 2026 Academy Awards in the Best Documentary Short Film category.

The project also marks a major milestone for Spirit Media, founded by Rana Daggubati, as its first Hindi feature production.

Rana Daggubati said the film attracted the team because of its deeply human story and its exploration of choices and the things people choose to hold on to. He also praised the ensemble cast led by Bajpayee, Dutta and Irani.

The film features music by Govind Vasantha and cinematography by Rangarajan Ramabadran. Guneet Dogra and Pratiksha Rao have also produced the project.

‘Last Man in Tower’ will be released in cinemas across India on September 11.
