Latur Police Trace 121 Missing Persons, Rescue 14 Abducted Girls in Operation Shodh-4
In a major success under the statewide Operation Shodh-4 , the Latur Police traced 121 missing persons , including 14 abducted minor girls , during a special campaign conducted between June 8 and June 22, officials said.
The operation was launched across Maharashtra on the directions of the state's Director General of Police (DGP) with the objective of tracing missing persons, rescuing abducted children, and ensuring their safe rehabilitation and reintegration with their families.
According to police officials, all 14 abducted minor girls traced during the campaign were safely reunited with their parents after completing the required legal and procedural formalities. The operation also led to the successful tracing of 73 missing women and 32 missing men , highlighting the extensive efforts undertaken by police teams across the district.
Apart from locating missing individuals, the campaign focused on identifying and rescuing vulnerable children found living in unsafe conditions. Police personnel were directed to search for minors wandering in public places, working at brick kilns, hotels, and other locations where they could be exposed to exploitation or neglect.
Officials said the rescued children were provided necessary assistance and efforts were made to ensure their rehabilitation and safe return to their families. The initiative aimed not only at tracing missing persons but also at protecting children at risk and preventing them from falling victim to trafficking, abuse, or other forms of exploitation.
In one notable case, the Shivajinagar Police successfully traced two missing minors and reunited them with their parents, reinforcing the campaign's focus on child safety and family reunification.
Police officials described the operation as a significant achievement and said coordinated efforts by various police units, field investigations, and community support played a crucial role in locating the missing individuals. Authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing such drives to strengthen child protection mechanisms and improve the response to missing person cases across the state.
