‘Long and Healthy Life’: PM Modi Extends Birthday Wishes to Amit Shah, Highlights Security Efforts
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended birthday wishes to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, praising his administrative understanding and contribution to strengthening India’s internal security system, particularly in tackling Maoism and the drug menace.
Shah, who has held the Home Ministry portfolio since 2019, turned 62 on Thursday. In a birthday message posted on X, Modi said Shah’s administrative capabilities had helped make the country’s internal security systems more effective.
The prime minister highlighted the government’s efforts to eliminate Maoism and advance the vision of a drug-free society, describing these as particularly noteworthy areas of Shah’s work.
Modi also wished the home minister a long and healthy life, expressing hope that he would continue serving the people.
Shah occupies a key position in the Union government, overseeing matters related to internal security, law and order coordination, and the country’s response to major security challenges. The fight against Left-Wing Extremism, commonly associated with Maoist insurgency, and efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse remain among the government’s stated priorities.
The prime minister’s message placed the spotlight on these two areas as he acknowledged Shah’s role in the government’s internal security agenda.
