Lucky Baskhar 2 to Begin Only After Venky Atluri's Next Two Films
Director Venky Atluri, who won both critical and commercial success with Lucky Baskhar starring Dulquer Salmaan, has finally shared a major update on the film's much awaited sequel.
The filmmaker is currently busy promoting his upcoming romantic family drama Vishwanath and Sons, starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, which is scheduled to hit theatres on August 14. During the film's promotions, Venky opened up about the future of Lucky Baskhar 2.
Although he had confirmed last year that a sequel was in development, Venky has now revealed that Lucky Baskhar 2 will only go on floors after he completes his next two projects.
The first is a cop action drama with Dhanush, marking their second collaboration after the successful Vaathi/Sir. The second is a children's adventure film inspired by the charm of Disney animated movies, featuring a Home Alone-style premise.
Venky said he does not want to rush Lucky Baskhar 2, as the sequel comes with huge expectations following the success of the original film. He wants to spend enough time developing a strong script before taking the project to the sets.
Released in 2024, Lucky Baskhar emerged as one of Dulquer Salmaan's biggest hits and earned praise for its engaging storytelling, performances, and period setting. Because of its popularity, expectations for the sequel are already sky high, and Venky appears determined to deliver a follow up that lives up to the original rather than rushing it.
