A tragic mishap in the Aravalli hills claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy on Tuesday afternoon when a Mahindra Thar veered off-road and tumbled into a nearly 100-foot-deep ravine . Two others in the vehicle sustained critical injuries, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Sohan , a Class 9 student from Siwan, Bihar . The injured include Vikas (20), the driver, and Hemant (16), both also from Siwan. The families of the victims reside in Balaji Colony, Karnera village, Ballabgarh , with Vikas's family living in the street next to Sohan's.

According to police, the Thar had been purchased by Vikas just a month ago. On Tuesday afternoon, Vikas took Sohan and Hemant for a drive, which reportedly led them off the main road and about a kilometer into the hills on a dirt trail. Witnesses said the trio began performing stunts near the steep ravine while taking photos and videos.

During the stunts, Vikas allegedly shifted the gear into reverse instead of forward, causing the vehicle to spin out of control and plunge into the gorge. Passersby saw the Thar fall and rushed to the site, managing to pull all three occupants out. Despite being rushed to a hospital, doctors declared Sohan dead.

A police team from Dhauj Police Station later recovered the badly damaged Thar using a crane. Sohan’s body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. “No FIR has been registered yet. The matter is under investigation,” a senior officer said.

The incident underscores the risks of off-roading and performing stunts without proper precautions in hilly areas.
