Man United Let Victory Slip Away as Everton Snatch 2-2 Draw in Added Time

Manchester United's struggles continued in dramatic fashion on Sunday as Everton scored deep into added time to snatch a 2-2 draw in the Premier League.

United appeared to be heading for a crucial victory after twice taking the lead at Hill Dickinson Stadium. But Everton refused to give in, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles producing a stunning late strike to deny the visitors all three points.

Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead shortly after half-time, finding the far corner with a low finish. Everton responded through Tyrique George, who smashed a shot into the near post in the 83rd minute to bring the hosts level.

United quickly regained the advantage. Benjamin Sesko, who came on as a substitute, headed home in the 88th minute and appeared to have secured victory for Ruben Amorim's side.

However, Everton had one final twist in store.

In the sixth minute of added time, the ball fell to Maitland-Niles outside the penalty area. The deadline-day signing, making his Everton debut after coming off the bench, unleashed a first-time effort that curled spectacularly into the top corner.

United goalkeeper Senne Lammens could only watch as the ball flew beyond his reach.

The result means United have managed just one win from their opening three league games, following a defeat against Hull and a victory over Ipswich.

More worryingly for United, their defensive problems remain unresolved. The club has now conceded two goals in each of its first three matches, underlining the vulnerability that continues to haunt the side.

For Everton, the comeback felt like a victory. George said the team believed it could get back into the contest and described the late equaliser as a result that "felt like a win."
